Treble C is the community choir of Clare in Suffolk
It is now about to enter it's twelfth year with over 70 members, who enjoy making music and meeting-up with friendly faces at rehearsals.
Local Clare resident, Nigel Partridge, is Treble C’s Musical Director and draws on a wealth of experience to get the best out of the singers and make each rehearsal really good fun.
Nigel likes to try a mix of musical styles which blend male bass and tenor voices with female alto and soprano, creating wonderful harmonies. Treble C is currently rehearsing a wide range of musical genres. However, the content is always changing to keep choir members on their toes!

When I retired from teaching in 2009 I was not keen to let my interest in directing musical groups decline. As the Head of Music at Newport Free Grammar School for twenty-five years I had had the privilege of leading many diverse groups from all types of choirs through to a Big Band.
On the day of my retirement a letter dropped onto my desk asking if I was interested in becoming the Musical Director of Saffron Walden Town Band. I had promised myself a term off from music-making but I felt the opportunity was too good to miss. I went for an audition and started with the band in September.
However after a while I began to feel that I was missing choral music too much and after some period of thought and discussing the idea with other people I decided to see if there was a need for a choral group in Clare. Our first meeting/rehearsal was at Stour Valley Community School in March 2012 and to my surprise over thirty people turned up.
So....there was a need. From that moment on numbers have been increasing and continue to grow. My philosophy has always been, and always will be, that music should be open to all. People with previous experience, being able to read music and those who have never sung before in a choir should be able to participate and welcomed on the same footing. With this in mind I aim to make rehearsals helpful, with a sense of achievement at the end but most of all......fun!
Do come and join us!
